Departure from Mecca toward Kufa
· Mecca, Hejaz, Arabia
Husayn departed Mecca with his family and followers for Kufa, beginning the journey that ended at Karbala. The main Husayn biography gives alternate Gregorian conversions of 10 or 12 September; therefore the date is recorded at month precision.
