Inspects Legio III Augusta at Lambaesis
· Lambaesis, Tazoult, Batna Province, Algeria
Hadrian visited the principal legionary fortress of Roman Numidia during his inspection of the African army. An inscription preserves material from his address to the troops. A related inscription places Hadrian’s principal address at Lambaesis on 1 July, but this card retains the source’s broader dating.
